Fees and Terms
The following is information on the fees and terms for engagement of Appeals and Briefs by Michael Skotnick, Esq. Please note that the ultimate fee charged for each individual project is dependent on several factors, including the type and size of the project as well as the time frame in which the project would need to be completed. The specific terms of the engagement are also negotiable.
Michael Skotnicki does not provide any services on a contingenmcy fee basis. However, he believes that it is important for a freelance attorney to be flexible in how a hiring law firm is charged for the services provided. No two situations will be exactly alike. In some circumstances it may be appropriate that the hiring law firm pay a set hourly rate. In other circumstances, a negotiated flat fee may be best. Factors that would be considered in determination of a flat fee would include the following:
- the nature of the project (briefing, editing, research, etc);
- the size of the project;
- whether the project has an expedited timetable;
- whether the hiring law firm is being paid an hourly rate by its client or it is a contigency-fee plaintiff's matter.
A law firm will receive a 10% discount off the fee charged for the first project provided to Appeals and Briefs by Michael Skotnicki, and will receive a 10% discount for a project for each instance its recommendation leads to another firm engaging Michael Skotnicki for a project.
